JP Parson’s and The American Bandwagon

April 12 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Hailed by Pick Bristol as “Bristol’s own troubadour,” Bristol, Virginia native J. P. Parsons is no stranger to the music scene; he has been a local favorite for years. Since his August 2012 debut CD Appalachian Travels, he has been received as a regional songwriting sensation. With his unique, gripping voice and soulful lyrics, Parsons’s music will please your ears while taking you along the journey with him.

Parsons’s passion for music began with the piano at the age of six and quickly grew into the art of songwriting. Versed in guitar, bass, banjo, piano, lap steel, and even the saxophone, his natural talent for songwriting, versatile playing style, and love for performance have gained him a large and diverse fan base across the region.

After being mainly a solo performer, Parsons formed J. P. Parsons & The American Bandwagon in 2013. The band consists of an eclectic mixture of multi-instrumentalists from Bristol – the birthplace of country music – including Matt Osborne who brings his love of bluegrass with upright bass, banjo, and electric guitar. Seasoned performer Quentin Horton shares his talents with the Bandwagon on mandolin and Telecaster rooted in country and rock-and-roll. One evening after seeing Parsons perform, drummer Scott Thomas signed on to complete the quartet. After two well-received performances in 2013’s multi-award winning Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, J. P. Parsons & The American Bandwagon are pleasing audiences everywhere they play, and thus a new adventure has begun.
